About Department :

C. P. & Berar Education Society which is one of the premier and prestigious institutions in Nagpur and Vidarbha. Society college was started on 20 June 1930. College was started with under graduate course, Department of Economics was taught from the beginning. Post Graduate course (M.A. Economics) was started in 1973.The Department has grown in leaps and bounds in terms of developing good academic culture and quality education. Currently two faculty member working in department. Dr. J. K. Mahajan (Associate  Professor) is Head of Department and Dr. Vinod W. Dongarwar is Assistant Professor. The intake capacity for post graduate course is 80 students. M. Phil course was also run by the department.

Aims of the Department :

  • The Department aims to have a holistic development of the students by following a teaching pedagogy that imparts education in tune with the contemporary demands of local, national and International environment.
  • The Department aspires for skill development of the students andPrepare the student for employment in industry, the professions, and government or to pursue graduate work toward such advanced degrees as the M.A., M.B.A. or Ph.D. in economics, business, or related fields.
  • Guest Lecture:

A guest lecture gives students a better opportunity to learn about an explicit topic in a way that gets them involved in the class and actively join in a more convenient way of teaching. In a guest lecture, students get new perspectives and opinions that are often missed in a regular class. Guest lectures help students improve their learning in a more interactive, topic specific way.

  • Post Graduate Students Seminar:

The purpose of the Post Graduate students Seminar is to provide an opportunity for Students to develop skills in presentation and discussion of research topics in a public forum.  Seminar to get more information on a particular important topic, provide students an occasion to understand the subject in a better way, to provide them a chance to improve data compilation and presentation skills.

  • Skill Development Workshop:

Skill development workshop aim to acknowledge the ability of the youth and extend their support by serving them with the proper guidance, infrastructure, opportunities, and encouragement that help them achieve their ambitions.

  •  Competitive Exam Guidance workshop:

To motivate students for prospective career in government and corporate sector. Intensively guide students for competitive Examinations like UPSC and MPSC other competitive and entrance exams. Guide students for Group Discussion and Interviews. Provide guidance in various examination such as NET/ SET, defence services, Banks, Railway, Public sectors and Corporate etc.

  •  Socio Economics Survey:

To provide practical steps for students conducting socio-economic studies among households in communities. Encourage citizen participation and create awareness among society about the importance of working together toward making city a better place to live in.

  • Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition:

To testing the understanding of economics, banking, commerce and general knowledge among the students. Encouraging the students to pursue career in competitive exam and develop among them a spirit of competition.

  • Students Workshop

To acquirement of Knowledge in a Particular Field. Workshops provide a chance to interact with experts from the specific field. Discussing about the relevant topics of the particular subject, students tend to learn about the latest information and new skills related to the concerned subject. 

  • Students Development Program

The main purpose of the program was to enhance students Perception and Cognitive Thinking Abilities. Events & activities are planned & organized by the students themselves, which provides them an opportunity to learn ideation, planning & execution, team & resource management, time management etc.

  • Industrial Visit-

Provide students an insight regarding internal working of companies. We know, theoretical knowledge is not enough for making a good professional career. With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit provides student a practical perspective on the world of work.
